The Newest Restaurants in Riverview, FL: What's Open Now

Drive south on US-301 where it crosses Balm Riverview Road and you'll see the tell: a cleared parcel, orange permit signs zip-tied to a chain-link fence, survey stakes marking out five outparcels that don't have a name most people passing by would recognize yet. That's Ferber Retail at Balm Riverview, a project pulling a Chick-fil-A, a Burger King, a McDonald's, a Dutch Bros Coffee, a Discount Tire and a car wash into one intersection that was mostly open land a decade ago. Site plans put construction happening through this year.

I've watched this pattern repeat up and down the Riverview corridor for a while now. A subdivision fills in off Boyette Road or Balm Riverview Road, and the restaurants and retail follow within a year or two. Right now there's a real cluster of new openings worth knowing about — some open already, one still finishing its permits.

The Balm Riverview Corridor Keeps Pulling In New Development

The Ferber project at Balm Riverview Road and US-301 is the clearest sign of where growth is headed next. Permits for the Dutch Bros location went in earlier this year, and site plans show a layout that's worked at similar intersections around Hillsborough County: quick-service restaurants up front, a car wash and self-storage behind them, built to serve the rooftops still going up nearby.

None of it is serving food yet. Annoying if you've been eyeing that fence line for months wondering what's coming? Sure. But keep an eye on that intersection — this is the kind of project that eventually changes which drive-thru line you're sitting in on a Tuesday night.

Tutto Tavola Brought Real Italian to Winthrop Town Centre

Winthrop Town Centre, off Bell Shoals Road, picked up a genuine sit-down Italian restaurant this year. Tutto Tavola — the name translates to "everything at the table" — opened at 6264 Winthrop Town Centre Ave under chef Luigi Cavallaro, who also runs Trattoria Pasquale's in Tampa. It soft-opened at the end of 2025 and held its official grand opening on January 16, 2026.

The menu leans on handmade pasta and imported ingredients rather than a red-sauce-and-breadsticks formula, and it shows in the room. This isn't a strip-mall Italian spot phoning it in — it's dinner service, Tuesday through Sunday, 4 to 9 p.m., from a chef who's staked his name on it. Winthrop has been filling in its restaurant row for a few years now, and Tutto Tavola finally gives that stretch a reason to sit down instead of just grabbing takeout on the way home.

Big Bend Road Fills Out With Mellow Mushroom and Wingstop

Big Bend Road has turned into one of Riverview's busiest restaurant strips, and two names joined it in the last year. Mellow Mushroom opened at 10240 Big Bend Road, right next to Glory Days Grill, run by franchisees Bob Basham and Jesse McPherson, who also operate the Brandon, Clearwater and Wesley Chapel locations. Stone-baked pizza, a full bar, the vibe you'd expect from the chain — it fills a gap that's existed on that stretch for a while.

A few doors down, Wingstop landed at 10273 Big Bend Road, the first Wingstop location Riverview has ever had. The franchisee was targeting a late-July 2025 opening when local press first covered it, and it's been serving wings on that stretch since. If you've been driving to Brandon for wings, that trip just got shorter.

A word of warning: parking on Big Bend during a Friday dinner rush isn't for the faint of heart. Give yourself a few extra minutes, especially near the Glory Days end of the plaza.

Barrio Burrito Bar Lands at the Shoppes at Alafia

The Shoppes at Alafia, at 9830 Upper Alafia Court, is getting a fast-casual Mexican spot this month. Barrio Burrito Bar — burritos, bowls, tacos, churros — is slated to open its fifth Florida location there under co-franchisees Afiya Fareen and Priyal Patel, part of a chain that has four more Florida locations planned for later this year.

It's a smaller addition than what's happening along US-301, but it's exactly the kind of opening that tells you what stage of growth a neighborhood is in. National fast-casual brands don't show up until the rooftop count justifies the real estate.

What This Means If You Live Here

None of this is happening because Riverview has "arrived" in some marketing sense. It's happening because the math works. Enough houses went in along Boyette Road and the Balm Riverview corridor that restaurant chains and independent operators alike ran the numbers and liked what they saw. That's a different kind of growth story than the one you get in neighborhoods that market themselves on nostalgia — Riverview is still writing its restaurant scene, not remembering one.
